The research department at Koppert Spain has carried out an extensive trial in order to find out more about the use of A. swirskii in beans. This trial revealed that A. swirskii establishes itself better than A. cucumeris in bean crops. The use of slow-release bags led to a higher level of habitation of the crop by predatory mites than when shaker cans were used. A dosage of 3,000 slow-release bags per hectare resulted in effective combating of thrips and whitefly, and even had an effect on spider mite. In spider mite hot-spots, help is required from a specific natural enemy of spider mite such as Phytoseiulus persimilis.
