Practical experiences

In 2006, practical experience was gained with Amblyseius swirskii in chrysanthemum crops within a great many enterprises. The results are promising, and the approach will be further refined on the basis of these experiences. The blowing technique has proved to be an excellent way of dispersing A. swirskii and a number of other natural enemies.

There are major differences between the sensitivity of various cultivars to spider mite, thrips, aphids and leaf miners. It is important to take account of this in determining the approach. Practice has revealed positive experiences with A. swirskii in combating thrips, particularly in the summer.
