Introduction

There are generally very few problems in the first cucumber crops grown under integrated control. The level of infestation is very low at the start of cultivation. In subsequent crops (the second and third cultivation cycles), the levels of thrips and whitefly infestations are generally more evident right from the start of cultivation. This makes it more difficult to use natural enemies in these crops. The use of Amblyseius swirskii in these crops appears to be a reliable integrated system that can be used to combat whitefly and thrips.
