Introduction

Gerbera was one of the first ornamental crops in which integrated crop protection was applied. The integrated control of leaf miners generally goes without too many problems. Whitefly has become more and more of a problem area in recent years. Due to the compact growth of the crop, whitefly is difficult to combat with crop protection agents that work on the basis of contact. For this reason, frequent use is made of systemic agents like imidacloprid (Admire). However, this agent has a serious and long-lasting negative effect on the parasitic wasps that prey on whitefly, like Encarsia formosa and Eretmocerus eremicus.
