Introduction
Whitefly, thrips and spider mite can all pose problems in hibiscus crops. The predatory mites Amblyseius cucumeris and Phytoseiulus persimilis and the parasitic wasps Encasia formosa and Eretmocerus eremicus or E. mundus are used in most situations in an integrated system. Both glasshouse whitefly and cotton whitefly can be present in hibiscus crops. The latter is particularly difficult to combat with chemical agents, partially due to the high density of the crop.
